Themes, Plugins Experience

Overview

WordPress Experience

Blueflymedia has been designing, building and maintaining WordPress sites for well over a decade. In that time we’ve had to learn a multitude of themes, plugins and page builders. Below is our experience with some of these top plugins and themes.

01. Themes & Install

Out of the Box or Custom

We offer services to help you get your project up and running quickly. We can customize a them you already have purchased or develop a custom theme built exactly to your specifications.

Here are the most used themes that we have experience working with:

  • Avada
  • X Theme
  • Ocean WP (current theme)
  • Hello Elementor

Our experience runs the spectrum of installing a theme and making minor color/font changes to building a completely custom child theme using the bare bones Hello Elementor as a starting point.

About Page Builders

Most themes use some type of a page builder instead of the default one that comes with a new WordPress install.

Although we have worked with several page builders over the years, we prefer working with the Elementor page builder. It has consistently been the best performing page builder from our experience. You can learn more about Elementor at their website – https://elementor.com/products/page-builder-plugin/

02. Plugins

Experience

We have worked extensively with most of the top plugins that websites use but here are some that I’m most familiar with.

Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)

I’ve used ACF and the repeater fields to create custom pages for past clients within the WordPress admin. For one client I created a team section within WordPress so the admins could go in the back end and easily add and delete team members without worrying about design or layout issues from editing content.

Elementor Website Builder

This portfolio site is built using Elementor Pro as well as a couple of other sites I have developed.

I take full advantage of Elementor’s features like templates, header/footer builder and  form submission integration.

Slider Revolution

The Slider Revolution carousel/slider plugin is one we have used on many sites in the past. We have found it works best when you used sparingly as it can be time consuming to update and is a potential memory hog on certain devices.

Contact Form 7

I use Contact Form 7 currently with integration for Mailchimp. I have also used Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms and many others. I have integrated these into Hubspot, Mailchimp, Marketo and Constant Contact.

SEO Related Plugins

I currently use Site Kit for Google but have used Yoast and Rank Math to improve SEO in the past.

Security

Security is always my main focus when building a WordPress site. I have a good track record of building sites that are easy to maintain and are secure. My go to plugins for this are Wordfence Security and Jetpack.

In addition whenever possible I limit what plugins are used for developing the site. Each additional plugin added increases the chance of a security hole being introduced as well as decreasing the speed and responsiveness of the site.
